Browsing and using the map
Our hosting service receives ordinary technical information needed to serve and protect this website, such as your IP address, browser, requested pages, and request time. When you open an interactive map, your browser also requests map data from a map provider.
If you choose “Use my location,” your browser asks for permission. This website uses the coordinates on your device to estimate distances and keeps that choice in your browser tab. You can decline or revoke location permission and still browse by town.
Launch notices
When you ask us to notify you about an experience, we store your email address, the experience you chose, when you signed up, and the wording you agreed to. We use it to email you when that experience launches. This is not a reservation or purchase.
Optional Obelisk updates
If you separately check the optional box, we also record that choice and may send occasional Obelisk news and offers. Leaving it unchecked does not affect your launch notice. We do not add you to general marketing from a launch signup alone.
Purchasing, playing, and creating
Playing an experience opens the player service. Read its player privacy notice for information about gameplay and location. Paid purchases and group play will present their own notice before checkout or joining. Creating experiences has a separate creator privacy notice. This discovery site does not take payment or run a player account.
Storage and service providers
We keep launch signup records in a private database. Service providers help us host this site, serve maps, and store signup records. We will use an email provider when launch notices and updates are ready to send. They process information for Obelisk. We do not sell signup addresses or use them for targeted advertising.
We keep a signup while its notice remains relevant or until you withdraw it, then remove it during our list cleanup. Technical request records are handled by our hosting and map providers under their applicable retention practices.
Your choices and questions
You can stop either type of email at any time. Messages will include a way to unsubscribe. You can also ask us to remove your address, change your choices, or answer a privacy question at hello@obelisk.place.
